Trouble connecting to server

I've been using SmartFTP for over a year. Two days ago I started having trouble connecting to my web server. Specifically, I would make the connection and get the following in my log:

220 ProFTPD 1.3.0rc2 Server (Main FTP Server)

No error messages, but I could see my root directory. When I clicked on it, it would only highlight briefly, but that's it. I couldn't dig any deeper.

I even tried upgrading thinking that might have been the problem. No dice.

My firewall is configured (and always has been configured) to allow SmartFTP to work. So no changes there.

If you need any more information. I'd be happy to provide whatever I can.

Unfortunately, I can't show you the raw listing because when I right-click on the root folder, "show raw listing" is not available (dimmed).

I don't know if this relevant, but I also should point out that just before I was experiencing this problem I had trouble launching SmartFTP all together. I would just select the icon to launch it and it wouldn't show. It wasn't until I uninstalled the program an reinstalled it that I was able to at least try to make a connection.

Ok, try to raise login timeout to 240s... i know it's a lot but it looks that's the reason, maybe you or the server have the lines overloaded.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I went to Tools > Settings > Connection > Connection Timeout and changed the time there from 40 to 240.

Had no effect, unfortunately. I'm wondering if it's something else because I've never had trouble connecting before.
