The FTP server expects a valid host name

Problem

The FTP server expects a valid host name.

HRESULT error: FTPLIB_E_HOSTNAMEEXPECTED (0x80043117)

Cause

The FTP server supports virtual hosts and requires a valid host name before the user authentication can proceed.

Solution

Change the IP address to the server host name:

1. menu: Favorites- Favorite Properties
2. Go to the General dialog
3. Change the host from the IP address to the server host name
4. Go to the FTP - Connection dialog
5. Change the Send FEAT option to Send before and after login
6. Click OK to save the changes
7. Reconnect to the server
