How To share my files

SmartFTP is an FTP client that allows you to connect to an FTP server. An FTP client cannot directly connect to another FTP client. In order to share files, an FTP server as an intermediary is required. You can either install an FTP server on your computer or sign up for a web hosting plan which offers this service.

Set Up an FTP Server on Your Computer

This option requires technical knowledge and preferably a permanent Internet connection if you want others to connect to your server. Take a look at the list of FTP servers.

Sign Up for a Web Hosting Plan

A web hosting provider typically offers a place where you or others can store files on the Internet. In this case, the web hosting provider manages and runs the FTP server. To share files with other parties, the files need to be uploaded to the FTP server first.
