Problem

An established connection was aborted by the software in your host machine.

HRESULT error: 0x80072745
Winsock error: WSAECONNABORTED (10053)

Cause

This error can occur when the local network system aborts a connection, such as when WinSock closes an established connection after data retransmission fails (receiver never acknowledges data sent on a data stream socket), possibly due to a data transmission timeout or protocol error.

Solution

  • Unblock SmartFTP in the software firewall and antivirus product
  • Make sure that the host name and the protocol are correct
  • Change the Data Connection Mode from "Passive Mode (PASV)" to "Port Mode (PORT)" to  or vice versa. For further information see: KB: How to switch between Active and Passive mode
