Hi
Most servers I connect to show the Owner and Group columns as names such as admin or users. One particular site just shows the UID and GID such as 10002 or 135. I can view the conf file for two server setups - both using proftp with identical conf files - but one shows Owner as names and the other as UIDs. What determines whether the Owner and Group columns show names or IDs?

Right-click on the folder and select "Show Raw Listing" and you can see what the server returns.

Re: Owner column shows UID not name
Here's an example:
Right-click on the folder and select "Show Raw Listing" and you can see what the server returns.
modify=20110523092610;perm=adfrw;size=12253;type=file;unique=9050U5741ABD;UNIX.group=115;UNIX.mode=0644;UNIX.owner=10005; index.shtml
Any ideas what prompts the server to return uids abd gids rather than names?

The proftpd developer can probably answer this question: http://forums.proftpd.org/smf/
