AVG Anti-Virus False Positive?

Posted by Ramzypro on 18 May 2011 - 02:34 PM

AVG Anti-Virus is identifying what appears to be a false positive detection of "Win32/Heur" in the 64-Bit installer for v4.0 Build 1181.
The link to the definition that they offer does not give any details: http://www.avg.com/u...hNzY5ZWI2YjAwMA

To reproduce: Install AVG Anti-Virus, then download the 64-Bit installer for v4.0 Build 1181.

I have not tested the 32-bit installer.

EDIT: This seems to only occur when the file itself is being scanned prior to conversion from a .part file to an .exe file in Firefox 4.0. I have ran the file through the Jotti malware scan and it reports nothing. This may not be a widespread issue, and may be entirely related to AVG configured with Firefox. Apologies if no one else is experiencing this.

It's a false positive. If you are looking for a better AV product, try Microsoft Security Essentials.
