Downloaded SmartFTP v1.1.985 to evaluate with Xbox/PC connection. Using a crossover cable and a PC running Windows XP with upgrades and disabled virus checker. Able to 'ping' the Xbox O.K. - When SmartFTP is fired up a connection is definately made to the Xbox, name and password accepted, but then the following error message appears:

Port 192,168,0,1,8,148
Command aborted. Timeout (20s)
425 Can't open data connection T 192.168.0.1:37896

PC is on IP 192.168.0.1 and Xbox on 192.168.0.2
Have tried everything I can think of including comments on this and other websites to fix the problem, Active, pasv, IP addresses. Any clues gratefully accepted. Thanks.

Hi.
I have had the same problem.

The problem is that the pc has 192.168.0.1 ip adress,, this adress is reserved for something else ( I dont remember what ) Try to change the pc ip to 192.168.0.10. this solved my problem
