I have used WSFTP for a very long time and have only recently discovered SmartFTP. Is there anyway to import all of my sites that I have in WSFTP into Smart, or will I have to recreate them one by one? :cry:

The Knowledge Base comes quite in handy.
But we all make simple mistakes ;)

How To import sites from another FTP client:

Okay, this worked, but not fully.

I imported my list of sites, but only got about half the list. ;)

it's odd too, in that it didn't simply import the top of the list, but only select ones within the list, from top to bottom.

any thoughts as to why it did this? Of course, the few that it left out are the ones that I use most often! :?

What version of WS_FTP Pro are you importing from?
And what version of SmartFTP are you running?
Help > About > System Info -> "Copy To Clipboard".

hWnd = 0x754 (1876)
nMsg = 0x111 (273)
wParam = 0x9F95 (40853)
lParam = 0x0 (0)

Window Class = 'SmartFTP_FavoritesViewClass'
Window Title = 'Favorites'

Exception Code = 0xC0000005 (Access Violation)
Exception Flags = 0x0 (0)

Does any of this make sense to you?

I uninstalled and reinstalled the program. I noted that it kept my preferences (favorites had the "new" folders I had created). Do I need to do a registry clean up on this after an uninstall?

I am running Win98SE.

I downloaded the wrong version, which explains the above error. I now have the right version installed and all my sites imported properly, just as you said they would! ;)

THANK YOU for such quick response to my problem!

Edit

I was able to get my sites imported, BUT, the import didn't properly bring my passwords. NONE of my imported sites work - I get an invalid login.

I sent some information to Mat and I was wondering how this was all going?
