How to improve transfer performance with Backblaze B2

To improve the transfer performance when transferring large files (> 1 GB) to Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage, increase the number of parts in the transfer settings.

Downloads

Large files are split into the number of parts you specify in the settings and each part is downloaded in parallel.

  1. Go to the menu: Favorite - Favorite Properties
  2. Go to the Transfer - Multi Part dialog
  3. In the Downloads section, set the option to Enable
  4. Increase the number of Parts to 16

Uploads

For uploads, the part size is always 100 MB. To calculate a good value for the Parts setting, divide the size of the largest file by 100 MB. For example, if the largest file size is 1.6 GB, use 16. Keep in mind that Backblaze or the network may not be able to cope with a large number of concurrent connections.

  1. Go to the menu: Favorite - Favorite Properties
  2. Go to the Transfer - Multi Part dialog
  3. In the Uploads section, set the option to Enable
  4. Increase the number of Parts to 16
