SolidWorks PDM Namespace.dll

Problem

When right-clicking on a file in the PDMWorks folder (namespace) in Windows Explorer, explorer.exe crashes.

Cause

The problem is caused by "%ProgramFiles%\SolidWorks Enterprise PDM\NameSpace.dll". It uses uninitialized memory when calling GetMenuItemInfo.

Solution

Upgrade to the latest version of SolidWorks Enterprise PDM and check whether the bug has been fixed in the meanwhile. If this is not possible you have to disable all shell extension context menu handlers. To disable the SmartFTP context menu shell extension:

  • Open regedit.exe
  • Delete the following key:
    HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{F87DED31-303F-4ED1-9BCE-D360FBC74E0A}
  • Reboot

Affected Products

  • SolidWorks Enterprise PDM 2013
