How To setup the 1Password credential provider

Follow these steps use 1Password with SmartFTP:

1. Setup

  1. In SmartFTP, go to the global settings:
    menu: File - Settings
  2. Go to the Credential Providers settings dialog
  3. Select 1Password from the list and click on Properties
  4. Download the 1Password CLI tool (op.exe):
    Windows (amd64) for Windows 64-bit.
  5. Extract the .zip and copy the files to C:\Program Files\1Password CLI
  6. Click on the ... browse file button in the dialog. Select op.exe from the folder in 5.
  7. Click on the Select Account button
  8. a) If the 1Password account has already been added, select the account from the Accounts list.
    Enter the Password.
    b) To add the 1Password account, click on Add CLI Account and enter the login (email), secret key and the password in the new dialog. Click OK to close the dialog.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Click Test to verify that the setup was successful
  11. Click OK to save the changes

2. Create a new connection in SmartFTP

  1. Go to the menu: File - Connection
  2. Select the Protocol
  3. Enter the Host
  4. Enter the Username
  5. Click on Properties
  6. In the Login group at the bottom, select 1Password in the Provider combo box
  7. To use an existing 1Password login, click on the ... button.
    If no existing login is selected, a new login item will be created on the next login attempt.
  8. Click OK to save the changes
  9. Click OK to connect to the server
  10. Enter the username and password into the Login dialog.
  11. Click OK
  12. A new 1Password Login item is automatically created and associated with the SmartFTP favorite.

Limitations

  • Amazon S3, Google Drive, OneDrive protocols are not supported.
