Problem

When the SolidWorks thumbnail/icon shell extension (sldwinshellextu.dll) is installed, the SmartFTP process hangs (not responding) when files with SolidWorks extension are displayed in the Transfer Queue.

Cause

The SolidWorks shell extension is broken.

Solution

Go to the C:\Program Files\Common Files\SolidWorks Shared folder and rename sldwinshellextu.dll to sldwinshellextu.disable.dll.

Alternatively:

Delete the following registry keys:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SldAssem.Document\shellex\IconHandler
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SldDraw.Document\shellex\IconHandler
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SldPart.Document\shellex\IconHandler
