Port Forwarding with Putty
You can use putty with port fowarding:
Putty

Open SSH
FTP over SSH

How To

  1. Select Favorites > Edit Favorites from the SmartFTP menu. The SmartFTP Favorites window appears.
  2. From the SmartFTP Favorites window select the Favorite to be used. Right click on the Favorite and select Properties. The Properties dialog appears.
  3. Select Connection > Proxy. From the Proxy tab under the Type list select SOCKS4. Under the Settings you can set the proxy port to (e.g. 1080)
  4. Start ssh with a proxy port (e.g. of 1080) ssh -l -C -o CompressionLevel=6 -D
  5. Now you can connect to the remote host using SmartFTP.
Note: SmartFTP saves the Proxy settings per Favorite.
